Unwind with Amanda Batula & Wellness Pet Company

The Ultimate ‘Get Unready’ Routine for You and Your Furry Friend

As the day winds down, there’s nothing better than vibing with your pet in those cozy, chill moments. A solid “GURWM” (Get Unready with Me) routine with your furry BFF isn’t just cute – it’s a game-changer for both your wellbeing and theirs.

Let’s be real: dental hygiene is an essential, but often overlooked part of our GURWM routines. But it’s a must for both humans AND pets. The trick to staying on track without any whimpers? It’s a treat, actually. Wellness® WHIMZEES® Dental Treats make it easy (and tasty) to keep your pet’s pearly whites on point. They’re the perfect way to sneak in some health into your evening ritual while giving them a treat at night.

Wellness Pet Company teamed up with Amanda Batula and her pups, Reese and Ryder, to create the ultimate guide for pet parents on how to wind down, relax, and bond – with a side of dental health.

Amanda Batula’s “GURWM and my dogs” Tips

Toothbrush Time: A Family Ritual

At our house, bedtime isn’t complete without ‘toothbrush time.’ It’s a special wind-down moment for the whole family. While Kyle and I brush our teeth, our pups eagerly wait for their turn in the routine. Each one gets a Wellness WHIMZEES Dental Treat, and it’s off to their favorite cozy spot to enjoy it. It’s become such a cherished part of the evening—a little moment of togetherness before everyone settles in for the night.

Evening Cool-Down Walks

A calming evening walk is more than just a potty break – it’s a shared moment of peace that benefits us all. For the dogs, it’s a chance to wind down any leftover energy and relax before bed. For me, it’s a great way to clear my head and breathe in some fresh air. This routine helps us sleep better and wake up refreshed.

Rest & Relaxation

Our unwinding routine is always a shared wellbeing highlight. Reese, Ryder, and I snuggle up on the couch, letting the warmth of their cuddles melt away the day’s stress. This is an essential step in our routine because it’s been proven that pet cuddles lower cortisol levels and boost oxytocin for both humans and dogs. These are the shared connections that deepen our emotional bond.

Nighttime Skincare Routine

While I take care of my skin, Reese and Ryder get their own gentle “spa treatment.” Using pet-friendly wipes, I clean their faces and paws to remove any dirt from the day’s adventures. This small act of care keeps their skin healthy and helps prevent irritation – plus, it mirrors my own self-care routine, a reminder to us all that wellbeing is a team effort.

Bedtime Hygiene Check

A quick nightly health check gives us all some peace of mind. For the girls, inspecting their teeth, gums and ears helps prevent potential health issues, especially for smaller breeds that are more prone to dental concerns. Knowing they’re healthy and comfortable as we head to bed helps us all get a good night’s sleep.

Hydration Reminder

Hydration is key for everyone in the family, and bedtime is the perfect opportunity to check in. I always make sure their water fountain bowl is topped off with fresh water, and they enjoy a refreshing drink after their evening dental treat. Staying hydrated promotes overall health and is a simple habit that benefits both pets and humans.

Cozy Corners

My dogs love being cozy. Creating a safe space for my dogs not only supports their comfort but also contributes to better rest for everyone. Their crates are thoughtfully prepared with plush beds and soft blankets, making them feel secure and warm during chilly nights. When they’re happy and well-rested, so am I.
